How I Built a Mailchimp Email Automation Flow to Boost Customer Engagement


Today, I built a customer journey using Mailchimp to streamline email communication. From a warm welcome to engagement-driven follow-ups, this flow ensures every subscriber receives timely and relevant content.

This week, I completed an automated email flow using Mailchimp, tailored to create better engagement with new subscribers. The logic was simple but effective, using a sequence of if/then/else steps to guide the flow.

🧠 How It Works:

  1. When a contact signs up, they receive a welcome email introducing the brand.
  2. A 1-week delay gives space for engagement.
  3. Contacts are then split randomly (50/50) to A/B test two different follow-up emails — one with more product information and the other with a special offer.
  4. Based on engagement, each journey ends with a customized thank-you message or next-step prompt.

💡 Why This Matters:

Automated flows save time and make sure no potential customer slips through the cracks. They also let you test what works best — personalized content, timing, and offers — all of which help drive conversions and build relationships.
